12 Hitler’s Leadership Hitler was an excellent public speaker and drew huge crowds his Nazi speeches and rallies. This increased the Nazi audience, and allowed the Nazis to spread their ideas… No other political group at the time had such a “hypnotic” speaker. As a result, support for the party greatly increased. Hitler’s close supporters As soon as Hitler became leader of the Nazis he surrounded himself with loyal supporters. He rewarded these men with positions of power in the Party. By surrounding himself with these supporters, he ensured his own position was safe. This created competition within the Party, with senior Nazis competing over who was most loyal to Hitler. The Nazi Swastika As an “artist” Hitler gave a lot of thought to image… He saw the need for Nazis to have a memorable symbol – and he designed the Nazi Swastika… This helped turn the Nazis from a group of thugs to a household “brand”… After the launch of the Swastika Party membership grew quickly.
