10. IAMBIC PENTAMETER Has ten syllables in each line. There are five pairs of alternating unstressed and stressed syllables. The rhythm in each line sounds like: ba-bum / ba-bum / ba-bum / ba-bum / ba-bum He used this form in his plays to mimic the natural rhythms of the English language. “A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!” is a perfect example of iambic pentameter.
