Oil recovery solutions since 1967 OVERVIEW 2 Vikoma is the world leader in the design and manufacture of oil spill response equipment which has been helping to protect our environment for over 40 years. We have built our reputation on: Quality Reliability Innovation

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Introduction 2  Conventional Methods  What is it?  How Does it Work  Different Applications  Key Features and Benefits  Questions & answers

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 OVERVIEW Vikoma offers quality equipment for each stage of an oil spill operation, including booms, skimmers, tanks, powerpacks and pumps. Vikoma can also offer a range of oil spill response vessels, dispersant spray systems and a range of ancillary equipment, making the job quicker, easier and more effective. Quality equipment for every scenario Containment Recovery Storage

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 CONVENTIONAL METHOD ONE Problems with this Method Additional Vessel Required Large amount of Boom (this example over 250m) Fast Deployment Boom (such as rigid fence) is compromised by wind & swell.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 CONVENTIONAL METHOD TWO Problems with this Method Hull paint reduces Magnet strength. Attaching Magnets at the correct height is difficult. Detaching Magnetic Connectors can damage Hull Painting. Alterations in vessel heights can lift or submerge the fixed boom. REQUIRES OPERATORS TO WORK BETWEEN THE VESSELS WHICH IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 CONVENTIONAL METHOD TWO CONT… Start of Transfer Mid/ End Transfer Problems with this Method When the freeboard heights change the fixed boom can be compromised. The boom is affected by multi-directional forces (Horizontal and Vertical). The impact of multi-directional forces creates stresses and material failure.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 VIKOSEAL BOOM Inflated using Vessel High Pressure Air Supply Built in Auto-levelling function. Creates a seal whilst compensating for Fender Squeeze or Fender Drift. Detachable Skirts and Hammerhead wear plates. Includes over inflation safety features. Can be used as emergency response or in-situ for standby containment.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 INFLATION METHOD The boom rapidly and evenly inflates forming a seal between the two vessels. The boom is designed to expand to a greater distance than the specific fender to accommodate Fender Drift. To allow for Fender Squeeze the boom automatically forms a parallelogram to maintain integrity.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 INFLATION METHOD TWO By partially deflating the central chamber the tension between each end of the Vikoseal boom and the vessels is reduced allowing the boom to auto- adjust in under 10 seconds. This operation is quickly and easily carried out from on-board the vessel without requiring any water level assistance.
