Objectives To improve the HPE predictability by reducing the uncertainties of the model initial state: i)by collecting additional and non-conventional observations in the marine upwind environment of the HPEs ii) by making better use of routinely available observations in the mesoscale data assimilation systems iii) by exploring the potential of assimilating new observation types, especially observations related to the water cycle, iv) iv) by advancing the quality of the mesoscale data assimilation systems
