1. Social Studies Social Studies Global Issues Photo Essay

2. Photo Essay…  After hearing and thinking about global issues/concerns/problems/challenges facing our world today, narrow down a list of topics that interest you.  Decide whether you wish to work alone or with a partner.  View examples of Photos essays. (in class)

3. Photo Essay… Task: 1. Create a slide show of photos, images, pictures, etc. to represent your theme and to communicate your theme to others. (PWPT or Moviemaker!) 2. You may include video clips and sound effects/audio if they enhance the communicability of your theme. 3. Prepare a short, concise, well-written caption to accompany each image. (You will use this to explain the purpose/meaning of each image when you present.) (This could go in the notes section of a PWPT or be done separately on a Word document.)

4. Photo Essay…  All photos will communicate a theme / tell a story collectively (like an essay does)  All photos are selected with purpose and considered for their appropriateness!  Each image should have some accompanying information, facts, statistics, that you will use to inform the class during your presentation. (We should only see the visual. We will hear the information from you orally but I will need to see it in written form as well.)

5. Photo Essay…  Finally… You must wrap up your essay by making connections to us as Atlantic Canadians using the six themes of interdependence.
