The factories and high rise buildings are quite a distance from the people at leisure in the foreground suggest very separate lives . This work depicts an urban landscape, it shows a busy township scene through Pemba’s eyes. On both sides of the image are rows of small neat houses giving the impression of an established community. They recede into space showing linear perspective as they get smaller towards the top of the image. The only form of transport evident in this community is the donkey cart suggesting the poverty of the community. New Brighton Oil on canvas Oil on canvas.
