Songo Agricultural Training Centre Built centre for farming, livestock rearing, animal pens and water well and developed curriculum 2006-to date Provides 12 month field and classroom course For up to 30 disadvantaged young people per annum 55 ex-child soldiers and other marginalised youth have successfully completed the course Graduates are highly motivated and are now organised into 10 productive farming co-operatives Farm land provided to each co-operative by community leaders and seed and cash loans provided by SLWT Training covers crop science, animal husbandry agro-business. Trauma counselling and conflict management training provided weekly Inadequate medical facilities within community and SLWT facilitating training of 20 Community Health Workers Partner – Kids Action Sierra Leone

2. FAWE – Scholarship Support Programme FAWE (Forum for African Women Educationalists) provides free primary school education to disadvantaged girls As no free secondary schools in Sierra Leone, FAWE facilitates and encourages secondary school education through a scholarship programme The SLWT scholarships pay for their school fees, examination costs, uniforms and books and enable the girls to attend good secondary schools FAWE has three schools in the Western Area of Sierra Leone 2008-to date In September 2008 SLWT made a 3 year commitment to provide the funds for the scholarships awarded to 30 pupils Partner – FAWE

Health Aspects of SLWT Projects TMCR - Liaison with Red Cross for mobile clinic - Training of Traditional Birth Attendants - HIV/ Aids awareness training - Construction of pit latrines and sensitisation in use - Digging of 12 wells and training in benefits of potable water - Construction of Health Clinic - Provision of top-up incentive to government nurse to remain within remote community - Supply of drugs and furniture for health clinic - Liaison with Ministry of Health in respect of solar refrigerator for clinic to facilitate immunisation delivery
