Tax penalty for not having health insurance How much is the tax penalty? 2014: $95 per adult or 1% of household income, whichever is higher 2015: $325 per adult or 2% of household income, whichever is higher 2016: $695 per adult or 2.5% of household income, whichever is higher *Penalty for a child is half that of an adult 26
