3 Primate city A city which is greater than two times the next largest city in a nation. It is a major city that works as the financial, political, and population centre of a country. indicates an imbalance in development examples: Athens, Greece Istanbul, Turkey Mexico City, Mexico Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Bangkok, Thailand United Kingdom, London

4 London ( case study) London has been the capital city of England since 1265 and it continues the capital of United Kingdom to the present day after its formation. Registered population of London is approx. 8.2 million which is 7 times bigger than Birmingham with 1.1 million approx. population. It is also the country’s economic, transportation, and cultural centre.
