3 Today’s LessonSkill Development: Art@Booksin Today you will learn about fiber art using yarn to create your own unique rainbow. Introduction to crochet, tapestry and weaving. Use of a new medium – wool / yarn. You will learn: To create a design and execute into a 3D art piece. Yarn Rainbow

4 What is Fiber art? Art@Booksin It refers to fine art whose material consists of fiber and other components such as fabric or yarn. It focuses on the materials as well as the artists manual labor (work) as parts of the works’ significance. There is a prioritization of aesthetic value over its use or utility. Yarn Rainbow

5 How do we make yarn? Art@Booksin In order for the fiber to be made into cloth or clothing, it must be spun or twisted into a strand known as yarn. The strands can be dyed into many colors and then made into cloth by Knitting or crochet or weaving. Yarn Rainbow

9 Let’s get started.. Supplies Needed : Blue paper Cotton ball Rainbow Yarn Green grass paper Scissors Tacky glue Bowls (optional) Art@Booksin Yarn Rainbow

10 Process: Art@Booksin Write your name on your paper Glue various sizes of green grass paper along bottom of paper Layout your yarn in rainbow color order, cut as you would like it to look Glue each strand curving it as you go Repeat until all colors are glued on your paper Using your cotton ball make 2-3 clouds, glue onto paper Yarn Rainbow
