What are we learning today? …..to focus on pitch …..to sing with expression and create the right mood

REMEMBER!!!!!!! Posture Breathing Diction Projection

PITCH Always listen carefully to the notes you need to try to sing Always listen carefully to the notes you are singing Are you singing the correct notes, or are you singing too high or too low? Do you need to change the notes you are singing? Higher or lower?

“Expression” means “communication” We can communicate or express ourselves through speaking, but also through music In music, we can express the meaning of a song by using suitable phrasing We can also express the meaning of a song by trying to create the right mood

A phrase in music is like a sentence In a song, it is often the amount you can sing in one breath, perhaps one or two lines of the song Phrasing can help us and the audience make sense of the song and understand it properly

The mood of a song is the way the song makes us feel eg happy, excited, sad Mood can be created by using suitable tempo, dynamics, pitch, rhythm, phrasing

There’s a calm surrender to the rush of day When the heat of the rolling wind can be turned away An enchanted moment, and it sees me through It’s enough for this restless warrior just to be with you CHORUS And can you feel the love tonight, it is where we are It’s enough for this wide-eyed wanderer that we got this far And can you feel the love tonight, how it’s laid to rest It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds believe the very best.

There’s a time for everyone if they only learn That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn There’s a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours CHORUS And can you feel the love tonight, it is where we are It’s enough for this wide-eyed wanderer that we got this far And can you feel the love tonight, how it’s laid to rest It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds believe the very best (REPEAT CHORUS)

Gospel Medley Oh when the saints go marching in, Oh when the saints go marching in Oh I want to be in that number, when the saints go marching in I’m gonna sing, sing, sing I’m gonna dance, dance, dance I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna dance allelu! When the gates are open wide I’ll be standing by your side I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna dance allelu! Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Coming for to carry me home
