Matthew 24:42-51 Be Alert, For You Do Not Know The Day

Matthew 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Matthew 24:36-41 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Vs. 42-44 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Mark 13:35-37 “You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak. Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning. I say to you what I say to everyone: Watch for him!”

Ephesians 5:1-18 Please Turn In Your Bibles

1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 “For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night…. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”

Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Revelation 3:1-2 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God…

Revelation 3:3 So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.”

Vs. 45-51 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing…”

1 Peter 5:1-2 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;

1 peter 5:3-4 not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”

Vs. 46-47 "Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. "Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.

Vs. 48 "But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' “He is saying something “in his heart,” that is, to himself. Now what a man says to himself is often even more important than what he says openly. But within the secret precincts of his own being this particular man is conversing wickedly & irresponsibly.” Hendriksen

James 1:14-15 “But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.”

“What caused this servant’s downfall? Something went wrong in his heart: He ceased to expect his Lord to return. Looking for His appearing, and loving His appearing, should motivate us to be faithful and loving.” Warren Wiersbe

“The most dangerous of all delusions is that there is plenty of time. The most dangerous day in a man’s life is when he learns that there is such a word as tomorrow. There are things which must not be put off, for no man knows if for him tomorrow will ever come.” William Barclay

Vs. 50-51 "the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

“This weeping is that of inconsolable, never-ending wretchedness, and utter, everlasting hopelessness - despair. The accompanying grinding or gnashing of teeth denotes excruciating pain and frenzied anger.” Hendriksen “Theisen soon to be pune-ished”

Matthew 13:40-43 “As weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

“The servant of God who tries to live licentiously for a time, planning to clean up his life before the Lord returns, will find himself in a trap. Christ’s Second Coming will be swift and sudden. There will be no opportunity for afterthought, last minute repentance, or bargaining. The choice we have already made will determine our eternal destiny.” Weber/Life App. Bible

Vs. 46-47 "Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. "Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
