Maryknoll Wireless Network Access Steps for Windows 7 As of Aug 20, 2012

Notes 1 There are a couple different passwords you will need: 1.Your network login (email address or the part before the @maryknollschool.org) 2.An administrator account for the computer you are using. It will often be different than the above.

Notes 2 You will NOT have to do all these steps all the time. This is just initial setup. If you get stuck, please don’t spend too long guessing. Come see a tech to help you through this process.

Select a Network 1.Click on the WiFi signal strength bars 2.Click “Open Network and Sharing Center” 3.***Do NOT select the network from the list, it will not work

Set up a new connection 1. Click “Set up a new connection or network”

Manually connect 1.Highlight “Manually connect to a wireless network” 2.Click Next

Basic setup 1.Type in the desired network name 2.Set Security type to “WPA2-Enterprise” 3.Make sure Encryption type is “AES” 4.Check the box to start this connection automatically 5.Click Next

Adjust the settings 1. Click “Change connection settings”

Change security settings 1.Click “Security” tab 2.Click “Settings” button

Do not validate the server certificate 1.Uncheck (turn off) “Validate server certificate” 2.Click OK

Change advanced settings 1. Click on “Advanced Settings”

Setup authentication 1.Click “Specify authentication mode” 2.Make sure “user authentication” is selected 3.Click “Save credentials”

Save credentials 1.Enter your email address 2.Enter your email password 3.Click OK

Save stuff #1 1. Click OK

Save stuff #2 1. Click OK

Save stuff #3 1. Click Close

Verify connection 1.Verify your desired network is listed 2.Close the window

Stuck at first network login If you get stuck here, contact the tech department. Chances are you’ve got an expired password or are not in the correct security group.

Open a browser 1. Open any browser and navigate to any site. You’ll get the above screen, which will change in a few seconds.

Security warning 1. Click “Continue to this website”

Install CA Cert 1. Click “install CA Cert”

Open the ca.cer file 1. Click Open

Allow certificate to be installed 1. Click Allow

Install certificate 1. Click Install Certificate…

Choose where to place the certificate 1.Make sure to choose “Place all certificates in the following store” 2.Click Browse…

Select the certificate store 1.Select “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” 2.Click OK

Certificate success 1. Click OK

Network Access Portal 1.Enter your username (the part of your email before the @maryknollschool.org) 2.Enter your email password 3.Click Continue

Incorrect user name If you are now stuck, please double check your user name. It should be the part of your email address before the @maryknollschool.org. For example: morrisj16 or james.morris and not the full email address. If you can’t figure it out, please contact the tech department.

Launch Cisco NAC Agent Install 1.Click “Launch Cisco NAC Windows Agent“ 2.**NOTE** Depending on the security of your computer you may be asked to install a browser add-on or run an installer. Please do so at this time.

NAC install #1 1. Click Next

NAC install #2 1.Accept the terms 2.Click Next

NAC install #3 1. Click Next

NAC install #4 1.Click Install 2.***NOTE*** You may get a warning that you’re installing a program. Please allow it.

NAC install #5 1. Click Finish

Cisco Agent not successfully installed If you were not able to successfully install the Cisco Agent, please see the tech department.

Every Day You will need to do the following steps, at least once a day, to gain access to the network You are responsible for the network traffic that is used by your device These steps are to confirm the identity of the person using the device

NAC Agent Login 1.Enter your username 2.Enter your password 3.You may click “Remember Me” to not have to do this every day. 4.Click Log in

Temporary access granted If the issues are “optional” you will see a continue button. You may just click continue. If you have a computer that does not meet all the security requirements, you will be granted temporary network access and given a chance to fix the problems. Click the provided links for more information. If you are stuck, please contact the Tech department to help with a resolution.

Done! 1. Click OK
