PLAN o The PLAN Student Score Report contains a lot of information about your skills, interests, plans, and goals. o You can use this information to: o make sure your remaining high school courses are the best ones possible to prepare you for college o help you consider your options for after high school

PLAN & EXPLORE: What Do My Scores Mean? Your scores are between 1 and 25 on the EXPLORE (for 9 th grade), 1 and 32 on the PLAN (for 10 th grade), and 1 and 36 on the ACT (for 11 th grade). Just like grades, your scores tell you how well you did on each test. Your Composite score is simply the average of your test scores in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science(rounded to a whole number). On the PLAN and EXPLORE the two scores directly under English and Math only range from 1 to 16. They tell you how well you did in two specific areas of each subject. These scores added together do NOT necessarily equal your English or Math Test scores.

Based on my scores, am I college ready?

Credit Recovery For students who fail a ONE semester course (ex. Government, Economics): Summer School occurs in June at NHP using the PLATO online self-paced learning system. Cost TBD, but predicted to be $200 per semester, as in previous years. For students who fail a semester of a TWO semester course (aka year-long course) (ex. English, Math) If a student fails both semesters, they must take the entire year of credit recovery. Maximum of 2 semesters of credit can be earned (1 morning class, 1 afternoon class)

Update of Credit Recovery Summer School NOW! Any student that has failed a course for semester one will be provided the opportunity to recover the credit, prior to summer school through a new program called Summer School Now. Through this program, students will be able to recover first semester credit online during the second semester. Students will be awarded credit upon successful completion of the online course. The cost for the program is $200.00, and if the student completes the course prior to May 22, 2016 we will return $100.00. This is a lot less expensive than the $200.00 per course fee that we charge for our Summer School program. We will be in contact with all parents if your scholar failed a subject for semester one in the upcoming week. If you are interested in enrolling your scholar, please fill out the bottom portion of this letter and return it to Ms. Gibbs or Mrs. Hollingsworth in the Counseling Office by Monday, February 1 st,, 2016. Upon receipt of the payment, students will be shown how to use the PLATO program and issued their logins If you have any questions at all, please reach out to jhollingsworth@uplifteducation.org.jhollingsworth@uplifteducation.org

Summer Enrichment Opportunities College preparation truly begins in the 9 th grade. With major emphasis at this time on academic progress, colleges also seek students that doing something worthwhile with their summers. Examples: Volunteering Summer jobs Camps and Internships Summer enrichment classes See counselors for summer programs that suit your goals and interests.

Other Summer Activities As your family travels, use this time to visit colleges. College exposure is key to finding the right fit college for each scholar. Though summer is a time where most students are not on campus, students can determine a preference of size, location, and offerings. Some scholars also use summer to participate in SAT/ACT test prep. Typically students begin seriously taking the ACT/SAT for college admission in the Spring semester of junior year. Be PRODUCTIVE!
