GRUPPO BAGIONI’s companies: Tradition, Quality and Enterprise Bagioni’s companies are a business pool in energy and farming sector. Directly managed by family members, Bagioni’s companies have always worked to cultivate, process and sell products for animal foodstuff, such as cereals (durum wheat, barley, triticale, corn, sorghum) and in particular forage and dehydrated lucerne. Thanks to the experience of 3 generations of farmers, every year more than 3.000 hectares are cultivated in the fields of Ravenna and Forli. These vast stretches are cultivated for sowing, energy crops, orchards and vineyards. Because of two modern plants by “Euroforaggi ltd” that deal with dehydration and pelletization, once the harvest is completed the agricultural products are directly processed in the establishments and then sold in Italy or abroad (we directly sell to Libya, Algeria, Croatia, Austria and indirectly sell to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) thanks to Geo-Romagna ltd.'s proximity to the harbour. The entrepreneurship feature Biagioni family has always had pushes them to continuously establish new forefront projects. The last achievement is represented by the biogas installation, the “Agrienergy” enterprise's latest flagship. It is able to obtain electrical and thermal power by exploiting renewable sources, which are partially used by the company during the process of dehydration and tillage in order to protect the environment and the ecosystems. Our Products and Technologies Lucerne is a plant which originally comes from Western Asia; it’s been very well-known in history since centuries and at present farmers really treasure it as a very high nutritional value forage. Internationally known under the Arabic name of Alfalfa, lucerne is a protein-enriched plant (as well as soy, the main reference for animal feedstuff) and it also owns macro and micronutrients (calcium, potassium…). Lucerne: the Queen of all forages A lucerne field
7
Lucerne is characterised by a remarkably higher content of vitamins and provitamins than other forages and simple feedstuffs. Furthermore, it is significantly enriched with with organic acids, sugar, fatty acids (like omega-3). Its precious characteristics contribute to transform it into an essential factor for the welfare and healthcare of those animals that eat it, an excellent energy source and an easily-digestible foodstuff as it contains limited quantities of lignin.
8
Dehydration: a new technique for high-standard products In order to maintain its precious features at its best, lucerne is dried after mowing (that is to say 30-35 days after sowing season), when it is composed of a high-protein and low-fibre amount. Firstly, the plant is dried by the combination of sun and air for one or two days; secondly, it is artificially dried to minimize the loss of nutrients, otherwise if the plant was naturally let dry the loss would be significant. The artificial dehydration allows, through pre-heated and dehumidified air, to dry out quickly elevated quantities of water. This procedure ensures a higher nutritional value in the final product and an optimal time preservation, as its residual moisture is around 10% so that there is no risk for the development of moulds, funguses and toxins, and the recovery of a post-treatment fermentative activity. Dehydrated lucerne, whether baled or pelletized, is the ideal foodstuff to directly feed bovines, sheep and goats, horses, camels and poultry. Lucerne can be distributed in high amounts during dairy rations and creates a balance in terms of energy, fibres, organic acids, and extremely high- quality minerals and vitamins. Its use also permits to significantly reduce protein supply from other sources.

Experimental and Biological Products A healthy animal is equivalent to consumers’ health and protection. For this reason in all our business pools, biologically-cultivated forages and cereals cannot miss. The willingness to innovation and the passion for agricultural and animal fields pushed “Geo- Romagna” and other companies being part of “Gruppo Bagioni” to take on the research and experimentation of ground-breaking foodstuffs. This is the reason why our company is provided with forefront machineries which are able to pelletize or bale any kind of forage, lucerne, corn, cereals and many others; moreover, we are pleased to test whatever brand new product our customers or dieticians demand.

Processed Beef Meat Bagioni’s companies pay special attention to rearing Italian beef farming, especially Chianina, Marche and Romagna region ones. Bagioni’s farming’s fine meats have obtained the PGI trademark and are sold by the prestigious “Bovinitaly cooperative”. The most refined products are: vacuum- sealed PGI cured meats, bresaola, “salada” meat, roast beef and frozen hamburgers. Our meat’s origin is exclusively Italian and is rigorously butchered by Halal method.
