Induced EMF A changing magnetic field through a closed conducting loop causes a current in the loop as if there were an emf source in the loop. – can be simplified to say a changing magnetic field induces an emf

Lenz’s Law Lenz’s law works with Faraday’s law to provide a complete picture of induced emf Lenz’s law states that the direction of the current produced by a magnetic field will generate a magnetic field to oppose the original change in flux – follows conservation of energy – if this did not occur, we would be able to get runaway current generation for free Use your right hand rules from magnetism to assist you in determining the directions of current flow
