1 Before you enrol for your second year If you have not already done so, please complete your Individual Learning Plan (learner ILP) on the college Portal, as part of the second year enrolment process. 20161

2 2 Re-enrolment for Year 2 Students continuing next year please logon to the Student Portal and select “Further Information”/”Second Year Re-Enrolment” from the menu (available from 18/4/16). If you have any questions please ask your Personal Tutor

3 A Level students  please choose subjects which you intend to continue with next academic year. However, you must do at least 3 subjects, Tutorial, Employability, Workshops and Enrichment, giving a minimum of 540 glh To progress to A2, The College would expect minimum grade at AS of Grade D (you may be advised to re-sit units); and to pick up a new AS subject you need to meet the entry requirements. To study 4 A levels, The College would expect students to be achieving at least 4 grade Bs at AS. continued 20163

4 A Level Students (continued) If you are undecided, or your choice of A levels may change based on AS level results, you should continue with all your subjects until the end of term, July 15 th. Your choice of A levels may affect your university or career choices. Attendance in subjects between June and the end of the academic year will be monitored and students below 90% may not be able to progress. 20164

5 Extended Diploma (or 90 credit Diploma) students  You must have achieved at least grade MP to progress from 90 Credit to Extended Diploma  please choose to continue onto Year 2 of your course; Tutorial, Employability Skills and Enrichment will also be included in your programme, giving a minimum of 540 glh  If you are presently studying an AS alongside your vocational course, please discuss carefully with your Personal Tutor whether you intend to continue with it to A2. See rules on previous slides for progressing to A2. 20165

6 All students  also attend Tutorial  an Enrichment (you will be able to choose which enrichment activity in September). Remember universities can look more favourably on students with non-academic interests to which they have a regular commitment.  Additionality, may also include: Extended Project (starting in June), Employability Skills, Workshops, Extended Employability Skills and/or Work Experience.  We would expect all students to spend at least one lesson per week in the college library or SLCs undertaking supervised learning activities and their Employability Skills pack. 20166

7 Higher Education If you are planning to go to university, think about which university and course you would like. There is information about choosing your course and university on LearnZone in the Careers and Higher Education section. 8 8 Voluntary Contribution As part of this enrolment we would hope that you feel able to give a voluntary contribution ( suggested amount £50). This is used to fund a wide range of additional college activities including : An enrichment programme with choices ranging from first aid to martial arts, cinema club to life drawing; a wide range of sporting opportunities at all levels from beginner to advanced; the maintenance and replacement of college minibuses; Henley College Lectures; many other extra-curricular opportunities; and a contribution to the Assistance to Students Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance. continued … 2016

9 Voluntary Contribution continued 20169 The preferred method of payment is via our online system Parent Pay at www.parentpay.com If you have not yet activated your account please contact the MIS team at MIS@henleycol.ac.uk Please look for the item with the title ‘Voluntary Contribution’www.parentpay.comMIS@henleycol.ac.uk Cheques should be made payable to The Henley College (please write ‘voluntary contribution’ and the student’s name on the back of the cheque). Cheques can be handed in at reception or posted to our Finance Department. 12 12 Confirm Progression – Step 1 Indicate which of your subjects you want to continue, and which you want to drop (or indicate progression to Year 2 of your course) 2016

13 13 Apply for new course – Step 2 Select any new subject(s) you wish to apply for, checking the entry requirements on screen Please do not re- enter subjects you have already chosen to continue with 2016

14 14 Contract – Step 4 Read the final page and press ‘I Agree’ to confirm your choices 2016

15 15 All enrolments are provisional dependent ….  on your attendance to the end of the first year (i.e., 15 th July for AS courses); also see slide 3  on qualifying for the course (students on L3 vocational course must have passed all Year 1 units and have achieved at least PM grade) Your timetable for Year 2 may change so please do not assume that you will have the same study periods next year. 2016

16 GCSE English/Maths If you expect to have a D grade at GCSE in English and/or Maths you must enrol to GCSE English and/or Maths in order to progress to a grade C. If you expect to have an E grade or below at GCSE in English and/or Maths you must enrol to Functional Skills. However, if you have already achieved Functional Skills Level 2 in English or Maths you must enrol to GCSE. 201616

17 GCSE Maths Higher Students who have already achieved GCSE Maths with at least Grade C can choose to do: GCSE Maths higher From 1.30 – 3 pm on Wednesdays from November to June (subject to sufficient numbers wishing to do course) Students wishing to take this up should contact Jon Lagden (jlag@henleycol.ac.uk ) for a short interviewjlag@henleycol.ac.uk 201617
