MONDAY, NOV. 30 Welcome back! I hope your Thanksgiving weekend was great! Bellringer: Discuss the role of homework in education. What is its purpose? Does it serve that purpose? How is it used well? How is it misused?

PHOTOJOURNALISM “My world this week” Get a photo of something going on around you during Thanksgiving break Family time Sporting events Travel

LUNDEY REVIEW How did you rate the photos from the Lundey celebration?

09 None Doesn’t tell story; stereotypical cheerleading pic, fake smiles, looks forced; too symmetrical and unoriginal; distracts from the story, just a bunch of cheerleaders; incredible cliché; we have SO many pictures like this; typical picture; doesn’t do anything to show the purpose of the article; it’s about Mrs. Lundey, not them

05 None Doesn’t show emotion; these kids look miserable and unexcited, which is contradictory to the event itself; shows no emotion, kids look bored; kids do not look happy and you can barely see the sign in the back; no emotion and students have a blank face

01 None Doesn’t follow the rule of thirds

06 None Sign is covered up by the person; someone is blocking the sign; distracting, kid too close to sign; kid’s head is blocking the poster, basically ruining the pic; mind the background, there is a boy in the way of the sign and the person holding it, seems like people want to see the sign and not the person; some kid’s face covering the poster, purpose (story) is ruined)

14 Cute and fun candid picture No connection to story, distracts; takes away from the story; doesn’t show any relevance; doesn’t do anything to show the purpose of the article

24 Captures emotions; different group of people No emotions; doesn’t seem to be a subject; pic has no purpose, just shows guys sitting there; doesn’t really tell you a story, doesn’t really have a purpose, can’t see any signs so it just looks like a bunch of boys outside

01 None Awkward, way too spread out, doesn’t follow the rule of thirds

01 None No rule of thirds

12 Shows focus and emotion toward Mrs. Lundey’s accomplishment, follows rule of thirds Awkwardly angled, cuts off the guy on the right almost completely; doesn’t fill whole frame and cuts out one person in pic

11 She’s thanking people/ta lking Kind of confusing, doesn’t tell a story

11 Fills the frame, tells why and what we’re celebrating Rule of thirds, boy in center of photo, symmetry is boring

00 None

00

00

00

00

00

10 ??None

10 One thing to focus on, not distracting None

21 Good amount of people and good shot; group shot Basic and cliche, does not tell the story well

20 Shows how happy everyone was, doesn’t look posed; rule of thirds None

20 Shows what the letters spell out from the students; great job telling the story, wide angle, variety and large number of students and posters None

31 Caught my attention immediately, panorama gave a nice change from the normal horizontal pics; really cool and shows all the students and the school; makes me feel the 3D frame, you can feel the distance Too much is going on and you can’t tell who is the subject

30 Framed well, executes rule of thirds, creating balance, captures emotion None

30 Filled the frame; showed emotion; signs are not in the center, but toward the top None

51 Shows emotion; NC; fills the frame and shows emotion; shows Mrs. Lundey being emotional and how thankful she is; shows emotion; shows emotion, you can feel how happy she is I like it, but it’s not at the best angle

40 Students with a big poster; shows how much time and work kids and staff put into the celebration; leading lines, shows what’s going on; good shot of subject None

71 Shows how many people were there to support her; shows lines that lead to the entrance; the people and the 100 building make a frame; shows leading lines; leading lines, captures anticipation, good frame; kind of tells the whole story of what we are doing; shows how many showed up Just a bunch of people turned away from the camera
