2 Directions for Use: It is important to practice the animation of the slides prior to the lesson. Some slides are automatically set to follow the previous slide and other animations require a click of the mouse. When you see slides with “Let’s Practice” students can gather their marker boards or paper and pencil and give each problem a try. In this particular presentation there is more practice than direct teaching. This PowerPoint can be student directed too. It can be used in workstations or for remediation. Practice pages have been included in the zip folder. After the short presentation students can practice solving and illustrating each of the 10 problems. After the guided practice and some peer interaction throughout the PowerPoint, students should be able to complete the practice pages independently. This TEK specifically gives an example of a two digit times one digit problem. It is recommended that this is taught using an area model or also known as partial products model. Example: 12 x 6 10 + 2 6 60 12 60 + 12 = 72 6 x 12 = 72 Several teachers have requested a math notebook graphic to use with each concept. I have also included a foldable organizer for this purpose. The PowerPoint text can be edited but the clipart is secured in the document. If you need a 2003 version of PowerPoint email me and I’ll include it. dazzleonadime@yahoo.com Warm Regards, Paula
