Talawat – Al Rahman (Verses 1-26) (Khalida Farooq) A highly poetic and mystical, in which the refrain “Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?” is interspersed 31 times amongst its 78 verses. Summary: God Most Gracious has sent Revelation, one of His greatest favors to man; His creation in pairs, well balanced; all created things received His favors but they will all pass away, and only God will endure through the ages.

Translation (Amtul Wakeel Sara) 1. In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. 2. The Gracious God. 3. HE taught the Qur'an. 4. HE created man, 5. And taught him plain speech. 6. The sun and the moon run their courses according to a fixed reckoning. 7. And the stem-less plants and the trees humbly submit to HIS Will. 8. And the heaven HE has raised high and set up the measure, 9. That you may not exceed the measure. 10. So weigh all things with justice and fall not short of the measure. 11. And HE has set the earth for HIS creatures; 12. Therein are all kinds of fruit and palm-tree with sheaths, 13. And grain with its husk and fragrant plants. 14. Which, then, of the favors of your Lord will ye twain, O men and jinn, deny ? 15. He created man of dry ringing clay which is like baked pottery. 16. And the jinn HE created of the flame of Fire. 17. Which, then, of the favors of your Lord will ye twain, deny ? 18. The Lord of the two Easts and the Lord of the two Wests. 19. Which, then, of the favors of your Lord will ye twain, deny ? 20. HE has made the two bodies of water flow. They will one day meet; 21. Between them there is at present a barrier; they cannot encroach one upon the other. 22. Which, then, of the favors of your Lord will ye twain, deny ? 23. There come out from both of them pearls and coral. 24. Which, then, of the favors of your Lord will ye twain, deny ? 25. And HIS are the lofty ships reared aloft on the sea like mountains. 26. Which, then, of the favors of your Lord will ye twain, deny ?
