2 THE LOOK Font – use one that’s easy to read Don’t use weird fonts – they can’t be read Keep your font size large enough to be read This font is Century Gothic size 30

3 OTHER FONT TIPS Avoid using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS Underline or italicize words for emphasis Try to use the 7 x 7 rule No more than 7 words per line No more than 7 lines per slide

4 COLORS? Are good Use either a light text and a dark background, or dark text and a light background Test to see if your slides can be seen We will leave the lights on

5 ANIMATIONS AND TRANSITIONS Are ok – but don’t over-use these Please don’t make us motion sick!

6 WHEN YOU PRESENT Make it interesting Do not read your slides to us They are like notecards for you

7 IF YOU’RE NERVOUS? Or even if you aren’t – Practice! You only have 5-7 minutes Too short loses points Too long loses points

8 WHAT SLIDES? At least two PowerPoint slides about that career. Include information about what people with that job actually do, how easy or hard it is to find jobs, average annual salary, and the type of degree required. At least three PowerPoint slides about your college/university. Include most of the information in this section of your project. At least two PowerPoint slides about admissions to this college/university. At least three PowerPoint slides about the costs of college and ways to pay for it. Include most of the information in this section of your project.

9 At least one PowerPoint slide about the essay process and one about the application process. Include the essay topic you selected, and a discussion of what was easy or difficult for you in filling out the application and in writing the essay. At least two PowerPoint slides, about credit versus debit, and about the importance of having social media that represents your best side. At least one additional slide that highlights ALL you have learned during this process. Think about everything you learned which you did not know before you started.

10 Your presentation to the class must take no fewer than five and no more than seven minutes, and must be grammatically correct, professional in appearance and thorough. Make sure you have practiced your presentation. Part of your grade will include your presentation skills, so make sure you aren’t reading to the class as you present.
