5 Project Overview  Step 1: Design the hardware for a 256 channel data acquisition system to read out the Hamamatsu photodiode array

6 Project Overview  Step 2: Design Labview program to control the data acquisition system and provide control signals for the valves driving the bioMEMS device

7 Project Overview  Step 3: Design Hardware to interface the photodiode array with an inverted microscope and the bioMEMS devices

8 Project Overview  Step 4: Devise a calibration protocol for the photodiode array bandwidth of dye

9 Project Overview  Step 5: Record transmembrane potential of single cardiac myocytes with flourescent probes and record from electrochemical sensors

10 Progress  Research Darpa Proposal Journals, Internet etc  Began Step 1: Install Labview Install NI data acquisition board Soder individual channel to corresponding photo diode Apply current to bioMEM to make sure it worked

11 Future Plans  Begin Step 2: Design Labview program That enables specific channel identification That is read in from specific photodiodes Work with potentiostat readout and manipulate and quantify results
