3 Who is Jesus? Matthew 16:13-17 …he asked his disciples, Who do people say the Son of Man is? And they said, “some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

4 Who is Jesus? Mathew 16:13-17 cont. He said to them, “But Who do you say that I am? Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. And Jesus answered him, Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

8 Who is Jesus? He is both the Exalted Lord (fully God) and the Incarnation (fully man) If both of these are true, how does it work? Philippians 2:6-11 “Kenosis” He emptied himself.

9 He emptied himself! In the incarnation, Christ not only gave up the environment (fellowship) of the Godhead and his position as Ruler, but also the use of his divine attributes. John 5:19-20, 30 John 14:10

10 Why is this important? If Christ continued in “fullness”, There would be no real suffering or real temptation. Hebrews 2:17-18 Jesus is our model! He laid down is divine attributes and lived a sinless life and was lead by the Holy Spirit. He lived being filled with the Holy Spirit, and operated in a fashion we are able to duplicate. He is the firstborn. Revelation 1:4, Romans 8:29 Romans 8:9-21
