Your Task 1.You will help the Restaurant Accountant by calculating the cost of the ingredients and the profit from selling the food. 2.You will also help him calculate how much to pay his staff (waiters and chef) 3.Finally you might be able to use your spreadsheet model to tell him how many waiters he can afford to hire

Stage 1 – Cost of Ingredients The ingredients cost 20% of the total price of the meal Drinks cost the restaurant 40% of the selling price Make a worksheet (tab) in your spreadsheet called costs and add the meals/drinks and their prices from the menu. Add another column called “COST” and calculate (with a formula) the cost of each item. Finally Add a third column called Profit which is the PRICE - COST

Example PriceCostProfit Fish supper80000 Vegetarian Lasagne60000 Coke50000 Sprite50000 Wine (glass)110000

Stage 1 Extension Use your spreadsheet to calculate how much profit the restaurant will make in one night. Add a column (QUANTITY) and assumed that 200 items from the menu were sold that night (you decide which ones) Add up the total costs, the total price paid by customers and the total profit

Stage 2 You will need to pay your staff! A waiter gets paid 40 thousand rupia per night A cook gets paid 100 thousand There has to be one waiter for every 10 customers There has to be one chef for every 10 waiters Tell me …… how well can you run your restaurant so that the people are happy and you make a good profit?
