1 It was these two pictures that had the greatest affect on me by making it feel as though I was sent back in time during the past horrendous state of Belle Isle. I say this because these two pictures strongly help to depict how industrialization was in affect at Richmond back at that time. The iron is extremely rusty, some of what was built was being supported by the wood that was stained by the greenish filth of polluted water.

2 The picture at the top helps me visualize the war and catastrophe that went on in Richmond. There were many quotes just like these placed on the bridge as I walked around to study the area. Reading these quotes helped to conceive images of struggle, violence, tragedy, and relief. The quotes described what Richmond has undergone better than the article did. It provided imagery of a city in flames, the deaths of many soldiers, the liberation of many citizens, the hard labor placed on women, the signing of documents, and much more. At first, I thought the picture at the bottom was where prisoners were kept but began to realize how it seemed more as an area for storage.

3 I took these two pictures because they help to show how unfinished everything was. It seemed that many of the structures built were unfinished due to delay caused by the war or due to destruction. As you can see clearly in the top picture, the bridge is defective and uncomplete. Under the water, I did not find skeletons, but I was able to see rusty old material and pieces of what looked like objects that came from the uncompleted bridge. Much of the pollution, shattered rocks, and what appears to look like dark burns on iron seemed to have been the cause of the war.
