24 Shared Disk Method of HA Clustering – High Availability Tibero RDBMS enables a stable and efficient management of DBMSs and guarantees high-performance transaction processing, using the Tibero Active Cluster (TAC) technology, which is a failover operation based on a shared disk clustering system environment. Duplication System: Shared Disk Active-Standby Method Tibero Standby Cluster Method HA method using H/W Clustering S/W The most widely used When a server failover occurs, the server’s service is terminated during the failover period (minimum), and a standby server provides the service. A standby server can be used for other purposes because it is normally left idle. DB Active Standby H/W Cluster Tibero #1 H/W Cluster Tibero #2 Active-Active Method (TAC, Oracle RAC Replacement) Tibero Active Cluster Method Ensures business continuity and supports reliability and high availability Supports complete load balancing Ensures data integrity Shares a buffer cache among instances, by using the Global Cache Monitors a failure by checking the HeartBeat through the TBCM DB Active H/W Cluster Tibero #1 Active H/W Cluster Tibero #2 Active H/W Cluster Tibero #3 Active H/W Cluster Tibero #4
26
25 Shared Nothing Method of HA Clustering – High Availability Tibero primary DBMS architecture is the shared- nothing option. The primary database can always be replicated in the secondary database to guarantee high availability. Single Server System Replicated system: Shared Nothing A service is stopped when a failure occurs. Difficult to ensure business continuity. Difficult to ensure data integrity when a failure occurs. DB Server Database Active-Standby Mode When an active server failover occurs, the active server service is terminated during the failover period (minimum) and then a standby server provides the service. System overhead incurs while all changes to the active database are replicated to the standby database. A standby server can be used for other purposes because it is normally left idle. Standby Tibero #1 Tibero #2 A-DB Active Change Log Propagation Active-Active(Read only) Mode An active server can failover, without interruption in service or loss of state. System overhead incurs while all changes to the active database are replicated to another database. The secondary server run in read-only mode so that users can use only part of the database functions. Tibero #1 Tibero #2 A-DB Active (Read Only) Change Log Propagation

26 Large Volumes of Session Processing – High Performance Multiversion Concurrency Control Processes multiple users simultaneously by using the MVCC (Multi-Version Concurrency Control) technique Non-blocking read and write operations Supports Read Committed and Serializable Isolation Levels Tibero RDBMS efficiently handles high volumes of simultaneous multi-user accesses, which generally occur in an enterprise environment. 1123 SELECT … (TSN:1230) Rollback Segment 1123 1332 1123 1432 1123 1332 1123 Blocks Row-Level Locking Minimizes lock impact by using the low-level locking technique Minimizes performance overhead by avoiding lock escalation 1 2 3 Tablespace Data File Tables Row Lock Table Lock Tablespace Lock

28 A Large Volume of Data Processing – High Performance Tibero RDBMS provides a partition table implementation and parallel processing feature to enhance the batch transaction processing for terabyte volumes of data. Partition Table Various partitioning methods including Range/Hash/List/Composite Partition (Tibero/Oracle only) Global Index/Local Index supported Parallel Query Uses more than one thread to reduce execution response time Forms operation groups that can each be executed in parallel. Compression Supports fast processing by minimizing I/O loads Reduces the size of data store.
