Itinerary outline with Day 1 being a day to suit after the 10 th of July 2017 Day 1 Meet up at London’s Heathrow Airport, Terminal 2 where a representative from Sweet Chariot will assist you with your group check in for your direct overnight South African Airways flight to Johannesburg…. 3. Day 2 On arrival in to Johannesburg, you will be met by your local Sweet Chariot representative who will take you to meet your coach and driver, all of whom will be with you for the remainder of your tour (different vehicle and Tour Manager in The Cape). You will then be transferred to the University of Pretoria High Performance Centre where you will be accommodated for the first 3 nights of your tour on a full board basis. After checking in, you will have some free time to explore the campus before enjoying a team lunch. This afternoon, you will have space booked for a light training session and then at a time to suit, your evening meal will be served. 4. Day 3 This morning, after breakfast, make your way to the indoor netball centre where you will enjoy a Netball coaching session. The session will be delivered by one of the High Performance Centre’s coaches and following this, lunch will be served. This afternoon you will have a choice of what you would like to do; you might like to use the on site gym or the indoor heated pool. Your evening meal will be served in Time out Café and the rest of the evening will be free at leisure. 5. Day 4 This morning after breakfast, enjoy some free time exploring Pretoria with your coach and driver. At a time to suit, make your way back to the High Performance Centre for lunch. This afternoon you will be taking part in a Hockey coaching session, again delivered by one of the coaches at the High Performance Centre. The rest of the evening will be free at leisure with dinner served at a time to suit. 6. Day 5 After breakfast, check out of the High Performance Centre, board you coach and make your way to the Lesedi Cultural Village for their Boma Cultural experience. At a time to suit, board your coach and make your way to your Pretoria hotel, where you will be accommodated for the next 2 nights on a B&B basis. The rest of the afternoon and evening will be free at leisure with dinner served in a nearby restaurant. 7. Day 6 After breakfast in the hotel, you will be transferred at 07:45 to your: Set of Matches 1 -v- Local School (e.g. Southdown College) 08:15 - Arrive at local Astro 08:30 - 08:55 - Warm up 09:00 - 10:10 - Hockey match After completion of the hockey match transfer to the main school site where the netball matches will be played. 13:00 – Netball matches 14:30 - 15:30 - After match function After the post match hospitality, transfer back to your hotel to prepare for your transfer into Johannesburg and the world famous Carnivores Restaurant for your evening set menu. 8. Day 7 Enjoy breakfast at leisure and then check out of your accommodation and board your coach for your transfer to your morning and early afternoon sightseeing activity at Gold Reef City. Enjoy lunch in the Park before continuing to your: Set of Matches 2 -v- Local School (e.g. Trinity House) Enjoy post match hospitality with your hosts before continuing on to another local school to meet with your first set of hosts, who will look after you for the next 2 nights. 9. Day 8 After breakfast with your hosts, the students will be brought in to school where you will transfer to Hartbeespoortdam and a visit to the Welwitschia Country Market. After lunch at the Upperdeck Restaurant depart for your: Set of Matches 3 -v- Host School (e.g. Cornwall Hill College) After the games, enjoy some postmatch hospitality with your hosts before returning home with them. 10. Day 9 After breakfast, meet up early, say farewell to your hosts and transfer to the resort of Sun City for a day of fun (including lunch and the Valley of The Waves). In the late afternoon transfer on to Bakgatla Lodge where you will be accommodated for the next 2 nights on a Full board basis. Once you have checked in, enjoy a Dusk Game Drive in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve and after being returned from your Game Drive, enjoy dinner at the lodge. 11. Day 10 An early start as you embark on a morning Game Drive at 06:30 in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve with opportunities to spot the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhino) or, indeed, the Little Five (if you look carefully) the rhino beetle, elephant shrew, buffalo weaver, ant lion and leopard tortoise! Enjoy a buffet breakfast on your return. You will then have a free day in the resort with lunch and dinner served at a convenient time. 12. Day 11 Check out of your accommodation after an early breakfast and board your coach back to Johannesburg Airport for your afternoon flight to Cape Town. On arrival in to Cape Town, you will be met by your coach and driver, and your Tour Manager, who will now be with you for the rest of your time in South Africa. You will be transferred directly to Table Mountain (weather permitting) for lunch and a trip to “the top”. After descending from the mountain, transfer to the Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge (or similar) where you will be accommodated for the next 4 nights on a B&B basis. 13. Day 12 After breakfast, transfer to Somerset West and the Cheetah Outreach for a visit before continuing to Kasselsvlei High School for your next set of hockey and netball matches. Set of Matches 4 -v- Kasselsvlei High School After the matches, transfer back to your hotel where the rest of the evening will be at leisure. 14. Day 13 After breakfast in the hotel, transfer to the Nelson Mandela gateway for the ferry crossing to Robben Island and your half day excursion; a former inmate will take you on the 1½ hour tour through the prison and around the island with its beautiful flora and fauna. The last prisoners left the island in 1996 and since then, Robben Island has become a museum which symbolizes the struggle to overthrow apartheid. On returning to dry land enjoy some lunch at the Melochino Restaurant. At a time to suit, return to your accommodation where you will have your evening meal tonight. 15. Day 14 After breakfast, set off for a full day of sightseeing. Start off with the Hout Bay boat trip to view the Seals at Duiker Island and then continue down towards the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. You will have ample opportunity to take a trip on the Flying Dutchman funicular (optional extra), have lunch at Two Oceans, see the baboons and also walk the hiking trail down to the ocean’s edge. Continue your adventure by boarding the coach and transferring up the east coast of the peninsula with a stop at Boulders Beach to see the Penguin Colony, before you return to Cape Town and your accommodation. Arrangements will have been made for you to have your evening meal in the Waterfront. 16. Day 15 Check out of your accommodation after breakfast and enjoy a morning at leisure. Walk to the V&A Waterfront and the Two Oceans Aquarium for your pre-booked visit. After your visit spend some time in the Waterfront and enjoy lunch at the CTFM in The Waterfront. Transfer in the afternoon to your: Set of Matches 5 -v- Local School (e.g. Jan Van Riebeeck). After the games, enjoy some postmatch hospitality with your hosts before you continue on to Stellenbosch to meet up with your hosts for a 2 night hosted stay. 17. Day 16 After breakfast with hosts, you will be taken to the meet point to arrive by 08:00, then transfer to meet up with members of the Sporting Chance Development Foundation at 09:00 at Khayelitsha to visit a primary school and undertake some sports coaching. After lunch, transfer by coach back to your host school for your: Set of Matches 6 -v- Host School (e.g. Rhenish) After the games, enjoy some post match hospitality with your hosts before you return with them to freshen up for your end of tour diner altogether this evening in Stellenbosch. 18. Day 17 After breakfast, say goodbye to your hosts and deposit your luggage on the coach. 19. Day 18 …..where you are due to land at London Heathrow Terminal 2 and where you will need to collect your luggage, clear customs and disperse home with many happy memories of South Africa and some well deserved R&R.
