10 LBNF Other FSCF Scope – Early Work at the Surface SURF has identified several surface projects that pose risks to the facility and should be addressed prior to LBNF construction; Examples include: Near-surface adit repairs (Tramway, 300L) Crusher building roofs at both shafts Hoist upgrades (motor rebuilds) Headframe reinforcement at both shafts Administrative Building Parking lot/roadway Oro Hondo fan replacement 08.26.15Lundin | LBNF Far Site Conventional Facilities and Interfaces10

17 LBNF Planning for LBNF Construction – CM/GC 08.26.15Lundin | LBNF Far Site Conventional Facilities and Interfaces17 Developing RFP for Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) scope of work. CM/GC will help LBNF plan for and execute conventional facilities construction Will be available for cryostat, cryogenic systems, and DUNE detector installation, coordination and management Expect to have CM/GC under contract to Fermilab before the end of calendar 2015

18 LBNF Planning for LBNF Construction – Logistics 08.26.15Lundin | LBNF Far Site Conventional Facilities and Interfaces18 LBNF and DUNE are working on understanding the logistics issues associated with sharing limited space at the Far Site. Space is limited on the surface, in the shaft (the conveyances) and at the 4850L. Fermilab has engaged Arup to carry out a Construction Logistics Study for proposed work at three functional areas at SURF: - Construction of LBNF conventional facilities - Installation of LBNF cryostat and cryogenic systems - Installation of LBNF neutrino detectors A draft study was delivered August 3, 2015. All stakeholders participated in a logistics workshop held August 11-13, 2015. Final report due in early September.

19 LBNF Planning for LBNF Construction – Issues 08.26.15Lundin | LBNF Far Site Conventional Facilities and Interfaces19 Must get the CM/GC on board early enough to participate during final design. FSCF funding is too low for FY16-FY19. This will slow the rate of design and construction progress. Delivery of cryostat exoskeleton to 4850L is challenging – options under consideration. Experiencing some scope creep since CD-1R: ventilation borehole, rehabilitation of Ross Dry space, substation transformer upgrade to 30MW.
