1 Renters Rebate Program State of Connecticut

2 Purpose The rent rebate program provides a onetime yearly payment to renters based on income, rent and utilities that were paid from the previous year (2015) April 1 st 2016 through October 1 st, 2016

3 Requirements for Eligibility All applicant must be: 65 as of 12/31/15 or receiving Social Security Disability benefits and over age 18 Have resided in the State of Connecticut for one full year at some time in your life, and also be a resident of the State at the time of application 2015 income must not exceed $32,200 for a single person, $42,900 for a married couple If you received cash benefits from the Department of Social Services (DSS) your rebate amount may be reduced

4 When and Where can you apply? When: Tuesdays & Thursdays Where: Stamford Government Center building 888 Washington BLVD, 9 TH Floor Time: 8:00 A.M.—11:30 A.M. or 1:00 P.M.—3:30 P.M

Apply at the Stamford Government Center Enter through the garage no earlier than 7:30 A.M. for the morning session Enter no earlier than 12:00 P.M. for the afternoon session Applicants must sign up at the security desk to reserve a slot. There are 15 slots available for the morning session and 10 slots available for the afternoon session. Slots will be given out to applicants on a first come, first serve basis only

6 What should you bring? Proof of all rent paid in 2015 (A copy of your lease is NOT an acceptable proof of rent paid) Twelve (12) Receipts or Canceled Checks proving rent PAID in 2015 or A notarized letter from the landlord showing the gross amount paid for rent in 2015 or A print out from property management showing the amount paid for rent in 2015

7 What else should I bring? Proof of all income for 2015 – Social Security – Railroad pension – Pension income – Interest Statements from the bank – Investments – Wages – Other Income If you received DSS Cash Assistance, your rebate amount may be reduced

8 Other stuff to bring.. Persons on disability must have current proof of disability, i.e., a TPQY from Social Security clearly indicating “Disabled Individual” If you filed an income tax return, we will need a copy to attach to your application Proof of Utilities from 2015 (gas, electric, water, and/or heating oil) Twelve (12) Receipts or canceled Checks proving you paid expenses (gas, electric, oil, water) in 2015 or A printout from the utility company showing total payments in 2015 or Twelve (12) monthly utility bills
