END-TIMES PROPHECY SERIES

Revelation 19 begins with worship to God for stopping the insanity of Babylon’s worldwide system of rebellion against the Creator. Next, the Bride finally gets to experience her Marriage Supper with her groom the Lamb. Lastly, the event of all events, the second coming of Christ to the world is realized. The Lord fulfills His many promises to return in glory and usher in the millennial kingdom.

 The worship in heaven 1-6  The word “Hallelujah” is used over twenty times in the Psalms but only four times in the NT, all four are found Revelation 19  Hallelujah comes from two words, hal e lū praise and yāh a shorten form of Yahweh. Hence, it means to praise Yahweh.  The four hallelujahs: 1. God’s true judgments and His avenging of the saint’s blood (1-2) 2. Babylon has been destroyed (3) 3. The heavenly host is instructed to proclaim hallelujah (4-5) 4. The Marriage Feast of the Lamb (6-7)

 The Marriage Supper of the Lamb 7-10  Often in Scripture the church is referred to in a marital relationship with Christ 1. II Corinthians 11:2 – Betrothed to Christ 2. Ephesians 5:23-27 – Marriage is to parallel Christ’s relationship to His church 3. Revelation 19:7;21:2,9;22:17 – Church is the Bride of Christ

 The marriage of the church to Christ ties in with the ancient world marriage process: 1. The betrothal – When we received Christ 2. The dowry – Acts 20:28 Christ purchased us 3. The groom building their new home – John 14:2-3 4. The coming of the groom for his bride – Matthew 25:1-13 This is fulfilled in the rapture I Thessalonians 4:16-17 5. The Marriage Feast – Revelation 19:7

13 “I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. 14 “And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14

1 Behold, a day is coming for the Lord when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. 4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. Zechariah 14:1-4

29 “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 “And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31 “And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. Matthew 24:29-31

 Time is known only by the Father – Matthew 24:36  He will return in a physical manner as He ascended – Acts 1:10-11  There will be signs for those to watch for during the tribulation – Matthew 24:3-51  It will catch everyone off guard – Matthew 24:44  Christ will come in judgment – Revelation 19:11-21  The army of heaven will come with Him comprised of both angels Matthew 16:27 and saints I Thessalonians 3:13  The Second Coming consummates the Battle of Armageddon – Revelation 16:14  It ushers in the “period of restoration” – Acts 3:21

Revelation 20 unfolds two key events after the second coming. The first is the thousand year reign of Christ. This is the fulfillment of John the Baptist’s mandate, “Repent for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The second is the Great White Throne Judgment. It is reserved for unbelievers who rejected Christ in this life. Instead of being forgiven of their sins through Christ’s blood they are judged on their works and have been found wanting.

1. Postmillennialism: The view that this passage is symbolic and that Christ reigns only in the hearts of believers. Things get better and better through the spread of the gospel then Christ returns. 2. Amillennialism: This view is also symbolic. All the OT passages are being fulfilled symbolically in the church today which has replaced Israel.

3. Premillennialism: The view that this passage is literal. After Christ returns He will set up His kingdom on earth and reign as its supreme ruler in truth and righteousness. 15 Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15

 Two books were opened: (1) Book of Deeds which records all the things people have done. Every deed that an unbeliever has done will be brought to light. Since he or she rejected God’s offer of forgiveness the only standard for judgment is one’s works. 12 (2) The Book of Life, which lists all believers who have placed trust in Christ 15
