Advent
2
GOD WELCOMES US The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them. The Lord, our God, is coming. Come, let us worship him.
3
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen.
4
Let us confess our sins in the presence of God and of each other. We confess to you, almighty God, before the whole company of heaven, and to each other, that we have sinned in thought, word and deed, by our own fault. Have mercy on us, for Jesus’ sake, forgive us all our sins, and bring us to eternal life. Amen.
5
May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon and forgiveness of all our sins. Amen.
6
We sing an Advent hymn/song (and light the Advent candle)
7
Psalm 24 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
8
Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Those who have clean hands and a pure heart, who do not put their trust in an idol or swear by what is false. They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their saviour. Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
9
Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the king of glory may come in. Who is this king of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. He is the king of glory. Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
10
The Lord be with you And also with you. Let us pray.
11
Stir up your power, Lord, and come. Protect us, so that we may be rescued from the threatening dangers of our sins, and saved by your deliverance. For you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
