2 Agenda Overview of the Faith Opportunity WHO: Selecting the Right Targets Faith Overview LUNCH WHAT are we proposing? HOW: Resource Overview “Have the Faith” Challenge

3 1 Overview of the Opportunity

4 Why Faith Based? Girl Scout values align with faith-based values Everything in Girl Scouting is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, which includes many of the principles and values common across religions. Girl Scouts of Western Ohio has had success with Faith Based Organizations. We’ve partnered with religious schools to form troops, Catholic Church to honor girls and mosques to run series. We want to ensure we coordinate this effort. Boy Scouts of Orange County provides a model for success. BSA of Orange County had a Faith “Blitz” Day one year ago, a focused effort to reach out to faith based organizations, resulting in 77 meetings, 22 committed to start a BS troop, 19 of which are still active, 55 asked for a return visit.

5 Why Faith Based? Girl Scouts and Faith Based organizations often have mutual goals Faith Based Organizations Need …. More Members, often young families Retained members, often via activities for their children Trained Leaders GSWO Needs …. More members, specifically young girls Great leaders, ones who are vetted are nice Places to meet Bottom Line: We can help faith organizations while they help us!
