STI testing positivity in Leicestershire, Rutland and Leicester are similar to the national average. Diagnosis rates of syphilis, gonorrhea and genital warts in Leicestershire are all significantly better (lower) than the national average. Leicester City has a significantly better (lower) rate of genital warts diagnosis.

17 Key points for Leicestershire In 2014, 22% of 15-24 population in Leicestershire had been screened for Chlamydia, significantly worse than the national average (24.3%) Leicestershire also has a significantly worse detection rate for chlamydia of 1616 per 100,000 aged 15-24 compared the PHE guideline. The national rate is 2012 per 100,000 population. In 2014, Leicestershire has a significantly worse STI testing rate (exc Chlamydia age <25) of 10,322 per 100,000 population compared to the national average (15,366 per 100,000 population). In 2014, 72.6% of abortions were under 10 weeks gestation in Leicestershire, this is significantly worse than the national percentage of 80.4%.

Rutland also has a significantly worse detection rate for chlamydia of 1390 per 100,000 aged 15-24 compared the PHE guideline. The national rate is 2012 per 100,000 population. In 2013, Rutland has a significantly worse STI testing rate (exc Chlamydia age <25) of 9,921 per 100,000 population compared to the national average (15,366 per 100,000 population). In 2013, Rutland had significantly worse rates of HIV testing uptake and HIV testing coverage for men compared to the national average.

19 Key points for Leicester City In 2014, 19.5% of 15-24 population in Leicester City had been screened for Chlamydia, significantly worse than the national average (24.3%). Leicester City also has a significantly worse detection rate for chlamydia of 1,757 per 100,000 aged 15-24 compared the PHE guidelines. The national rate is 2012 per 100,000 population. In 2014, Leicester has a significantly worse STI testing rate (exc Chlamydia age <25) of 13,362 per 100,000 population compared to the national average (15,366 per 100,000 population). Leicester City has a significantly worse (higher) percentage of late diagnosis of HIV at 61.2% compared to PHE guidelines. The national percentage is 45.0%. In 2013, Leicester City has significantly worse rates for under 18 conceptions and under 18 births in comparison to the national average.
