13 Pant was born at K K K K K aaaa uuuu ssss aaaa nnnn iiii village of B B B B B aaaa gggg eeee ssss hhhh wwww aaaa rrrr, in the hills of KKKK uuuu mmmm aaaa oooo nnnn. His mother died within a few hours of his birth. He was given the name Gosain Dutt. His initial schooling took place in AAAA llll mmmm oooo rrrr aaaa. After matriculation he moved to Kalakankar near PPPP rrrr aaaa yyyy aaaa gggg. He did not like his name so he gave himself a new name "Sumitranandan Pant".

14 The mark of the childhood in the hills can be seen in his works and his poems resound with an echo of the beauty of nature. He was a shy and girlish child and his classmates often used to tease him calling him 'girl'. For his graduation, Pant went to P P P P P rrrr aaaa yyyy aaaa gggg University. On hearing MMMM aaaa hhhh aaaa tttt mmmm aaaa G G G G aaaa nnnn dddd hhhh iiii's call for S S S S S aaaa tttt yyyy aaaa gggg rrrr aaaa hhhh aaaa, he left college. However, he continued his education by reading E E E E E nnnn gggg llll iiii ssss hhhh, S S S S S aaaa nnnn ssss kkkk rrrr iiii tttt and BBBB eeee nnnn gggg aaaa llll iiii l l l l iiii tttt eeee rrrr aaaa tttt uuuu rrrr eeee. After some time, he went to S S S S S rrrr iiii A A A A uuuu rrrr oooo bbbb iiii nnnn dddd oooo's a a a a a ssss hhhh rrrr aaaa mmmm at PPPP oooo nnnn dddd iiii cccc hhhh eeee rrrr rrrr yyyy.

15 Apart from Chhayavaadi poems, Pant also wrote progressive, philosophical (influenced by S S S S S rrrr iiii A A A A uuuu rrrr oooo bbbb iiii nnnn dddd oooo), socialist and humanist poems

16 Pant received 1968 J J J J J nnnn aaaa nnnn pppp iiii tttt hhhh AAAA wwww aaaa rrrr dddd for collection of his most famous poems, titled Chidambara. He was awarded the Nehru Peace Prize by the S S S S S oooo vvvv iiii eeee tttt UUUU nnnn iiii oooo nnnn for Lokayatan.

17 Pant's childhood house, in Kausani, has been converted into a museum. This museum displays his daily use articles, drafts of his poems, letters, his awards etc.
