14 Effectiveness of Control Measures Control measures shall be pro-active not reactive (Risk Control Programs don’t have ownership & Monitoring) Road work related incidents are increasing : A serious concern for all interested parties (OSHAD/AD Police/ Tadweer & Contractors doing works on road) Ensure the control measures are effective and not a tick box (Through effective HSE Inspections by entity & SRA) 14

15 Challenges in Road Safety Management & Control Measures CHALLENGESCONTROL MEASURES BY TADWEER Compromising Safety under work pressure Enforced contractors to adhere to safety, regardless of work pressure In-effective Securing of the Road Works areaAD Police / Saaed to ensure effective securing To ensure adequate cones / tapes / flickering at work area Contractors shall keep with them adequate safety equipment at all points of time Work at adverse weather conditions Contractors are advised to stop work, when safety of the workers is at risk. Inadequate Safety awareness of the workersSafety training by the Entity & SRA both. Violating the speed limits in and around the work location Speed limits are being insisted within Tadweer facilities and at contractors’ locations Lack of a comprehensive framework for Transportation & Road Safety related to the Waste Management related works Now working with DOT to finalize the Transport & Road safety related requirements 15
