AZTech Grant Focus Area 2 BACKGROUND Project Assessment and Concept Design for the Regional Community Network (RCN): - Start implementation process of MAG’s RCN Study - Develop DCR (Stage I & II) for 8 Regional Hubs and 8 Metro/Local Hubs to achieve connectivity - Advance this initial deployment area of the RCN to the PS&E level (DCR Stage III)

RCN DCR Stage I Tasks - Identify the Project Focus Area (8 Jurisdictions) - Jurisdictional workshops to identify the Regional, Metropolitan, and Local hub facilities/locations - Identify existing and programmed conduit & fiber availability

RCN DCR Stage II Tasks - Develop initial stage hub connectivity diagram - Develop GIS map showing fiber connectivity routes - Divide project into smaller construction segments - Prioritize these smaller construction segments - Develop preliminary cost estimate of segments - Define project focus area for Stage III (PS&E)

Project Focus Area (DCR Stage I & II) Primary Reasons for Selecting this Project Focus Area: 1. Establishes the Center Core Ring 2. Provides Primary Infrastructure for West Ring 3. Eliminates ADOT's biggest fiber bottleneck 4. Provides West valley cities the opportunity to get fiber connectivity to the TOC for AZTech 5. Supports future FMS Phases along Loop 101 on the West side

Assistance Needed Regional Hub Facility Selection Considerations: - Interconnectivity to your video, voice & data networks - Maintenance personnel accessibility - Ability to provide secured access - Available floor space for new equipment (12’x15’) - Ability to sustain environmental requirements (64 o F – 75 o F @ 30% - 55% RH)

Assistance Needed Regional Hub Facility Selection Considerations: (Cont.) - Ability to provide a separate FM-200 or “dry pipe” fire protection system loop - Ability to support additional back-up power load (UPS, Generator, separate grids from SRP/APS) - Ability to support at least 2 separate conduit entrances into the facility
