Academics/Ground Training Ejection seat training, egress training, altitude chamber Aircraft systems Basic Instrumentation Mission Planning Navigation Aviation Weather

Ground Training

Phase II

Primary Aircraft Training Purpose: Lean basic flying skills 26 weeks of approximately 90 hours of flight training Beechcraft T-6 Texan II Sections: Pre-contact, Contact, Instruments, Formation Students will be ranked based on overall performance in academics, flight training, commander’s ranking

T-6

Track Selection Students request their track after Phase I (T-38s, T-1s, UH-1s) There is a pre-set quota for each track determined by the Air Force Track selection is based on merit ranking (academics+daily flights+checkrides+commander’s ranking) T-38 - Fighter/Bomber track T-1 - Tanker/Transport track UH-1 - Helicopter track

T-38 Talon Fighter/Bomber track 3 weeks of academics, 24 weeks of flight training, approximately 100 hours of flight instruction Sections: Insturments, Formation, Navigation, Low-level Graduates select: A-10, B-1, B-2, B-52, F-15, F-16, F-22, F- 35, T-38, U-28

UH-1 Huey Helicopter Track Located at Ft Rucker, AL 28 weeks, approximately 115 hours of flight instruction Sections: Transition, Instruments, Navigation, Low-level, Remote Operations Joint training for USAF and USA helicopter pilots Graduates select: UH-1, HH-60, MH-53, CV-22

UH-1

HH-60

CV-22

Assignment Selection Process At the completion of Phase III, students are ranked based on their academic, flying, and commander’s ranking throughout the whole UPT course Students will compete for airframes that are within their specific track The Air Force determines what airframes are available for selection Student’s airframes are revealed on graduation night

Graduation If you are able to survive the grueling 58 week course and pass with flying colors you will be awarded your pilot wings!

What happens after UPT? After being awarded their wings, students will receive orders to complete follow on training in their specific MWS (Major weapons systems) Additional training includes SERE (survival, evasion, resistance, escape) and Water Survival
