9 JYVÄSKYLÄN YLIOPISTO Marie Curie Individual Grants -Deadline 14.8.2013 International Outgoing Fellowships for career development (IOF) - Marie Curie Actions IOFs are for researchers from EU Member States. Must have either a doctoral degree or at least 4 years’ full-time equivalent research experience. But more experience is welcomed. Proposals are welcomed from all areas of scientific and technological research Financial support can be given for up to 3 years in all. This includes an initial outgoing phase of 1-2 years in a Third Country. The more experience you have, the better will be your chances of being accepted for this action Proposals are welcomed from all areas of scientific and technological research Funding is provided for a research project which will transfer knowledge into your host organisation and building or enhancing collaborations between Europe and the rest of the world. The research project will also allow you to advance your career. Financial support is provided for 12- 24 months. IIF may also cover a return phase of one year. 11 JYVÄSKYLÄN YLIOPISTO Marie Curie Individual Grants -Deadline 14.8.2013 Intra-European Fellowships for career development (IEF) - Marie Curie Actions Researchers based in EU Member States Must have either a doctoral degree or at least 4 years’ full-time research experience, after obtaining a degree permitting you to embark on a doctorate. Generally, you must carry out the project on the premises of a host organisation in an EU or Associated Country other than your own. Proposals are welcomed from all areas of scientific and technological research IEF funding is provided for advanced training. The training is based on a personal career development programme agreed between the researcher and the supervisor at the host organisation. Excellent Science support the most talented and creative individuals and their teams to carry out frontier research of the highest quality by building on the success of the European Research Council fund collaborative research to open up new and promising fields of research and innovation through support for Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) provide researchers with excellent training and career development opportunities through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions15 ('Marie Curie actions') ensure Europe has world-class research infrastructures (including einfrastructures) accessible to all researchers in Europe and beyond. Budget share: 31,70%

Industrial Leadership build leadership in enabling and industrial technologies, with dedicated support for –ICT, –nanotechnologies, –advanced materials, –biotechnology, –advanced manufacturing and processing, and –space –support for cross-cutting actions to capture the accumulated benefits from combining several Key Enabling Technologies; facilitate access to risk finance; provide Union wide support for innovation in SMEs. Budget share: 23,11%

17 JYVÄSKYLÄN YLIOPISTO Horizon 2020 Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Driver “Digital Agenda for Europe” Activity lines : (a) A new generation of components and systems: Engineering of advanced and smart embedded components and systems; (b) Next generation computing: Advanced computing systems and technologies; (c) Future Internet: Infrastructures, technologies and services; (d) Content technologies and information management: ICT for digital content and creativity; (e) Advanced interfaces and robots: Robotics and smart spaces; (f) Micro- and nanoelectronics and photonics: Key enabling technologies related to micro- and nanoelectronics and to photonics. Activities include industrial leadership in generic ICT-based solutions, products and services needed to tackle major societal challenges as well as application-driven ICT research and innovation agendas which will be supported together with the relevant societal challenge. These six activity lines shall also include ICT specific research infrastructures such as living labs for large-scale experimentation, and infrastructures for underlying key enabling technologies and their integration in advanced products and innovative smart systems, including equipment, tools, support services, clean rooms and access to foundries for prototyping.

Essential characteristics and behaviors of systems and architectures. Descriptive tools are mathematical formulations or algorithms. TRL 2 Technology concept and/or application formulated: Applied research. Theory and principles are focused on specific application area to define the concept. Characteristics of the application are described. Analytical tools are developed for simulation or analysis of the application. TRL 3 Analytical and experimental critical function and/or characteristic proof-of concept: Proof of concept validation. Active Research and Development (R&D) is initiated with analytical and laboratory studies. Demonstration of technical feasibility using breadboard or brassboard implementations that are exercised with representative data. TRL 4 Component/subsystem validation in laboratory environment: Standalone prototyping implementation and test. Integration of technology elements. Experiments with full-scale problems or data sets. TRL 5 System/subsystem/component validation in relevant environment: Thorough testing of prototyping in representative environment.
