Changes to the Sixth Form Curriculum 2016
Sixth Forms are beginning to respond differently to the Government-led Sixth Form curriculum changes Beal continues to focus on the best progression routes for students and preparing them for the wider world of study and work Students will continue to study 4 A Levels or the equivalent Students will continue to complete AS exams in ALL subjects in Year 12 Success in these exams determines entry to Year 13 Many universities value these AS results when making offers to applicants in Year 13 (e.g. Cambridge University)

BHS Sixth Form is an inclusive Sixth Form. We do not select on the basis of ability. We have an inspiring curriculum. How well do ALL these students, of ALL abilities, perform at BHS Sixth Form?

Progression to BHS Sixth Form and beyond
85% of students progress from Year 11 to Beal High School Sixth Form 92% of students in Year 12 are successful and progress to Year 13 compared to a national figure of 82% Last year 90% of Year 13 students secured a place at university in August with 5% embarking on apprenticeships/work and the remainder taking a gap year 30% progressed to Russell Group universities

University Successes Since 2010 we have had many successful applications to Oxbridge and for Medicine and Dentistry courses. 210 applications were processed by 1st December 2015 – 6 weeks ahead of UCAS deadline

In comparison to other Sixth Forms in Redbridge, we have chosen to: Require students to study 4 A Levels or the equivalent; To complete AS exams in ALL subjects in Year 12; Success in these exams determines progression to Year 13. We value the breadth of studying four subjects Universities like the AS result to judge progress from GCSE Students’ preparation for a linear, two year A Level

The new state-of-the-art learning space was opened in October 2015 The curriculum offer is not about equivalence, but a different type of success that provides aspirational work related & occupational Our results last year show 100% of our student cohort have secured valid progression routes, in either, further education, training and employment.
