3 Pre-reading Imagine you are travelling alone to the South Pole. What will you take with you ?Why ? a warm coat, gloves, snowshoes, a cap, a backpack, a tent, sled, dried food, cooking fuel (solid alcohol), matches, etc.

5 Quiz Why do polar bears never eat penguins? Polar bears live only on the North Pole while penguins live only on the South Pole.

6 How did Helen plan to celebrate her 60 th birthday? Why did Helen want to make November 12 th special? How did she celebrate the day? She went to the South Pole, Antarctica, to celebrate her 60 th birthday. Because it was her birthday.
