Assessments Why? They let you and your teachers know how you are progressing and let us decide what is the next step for you. These assessments are good practise for exams when you are older. When? Weeks beginning 4 th Feb and 11 th Feb Be prepared - but don’t worry too much.

Top tips Find out exactly what you are expected to be revising. Check in your IL diary, exercise book, Moodle and Planner Live.

Make a revision time table I have emailed you a template and up loaded it to moodle. Your tutor has some printed ones if you prefer. Use this to start you off. Can you make a better one?

Make note cards of your notes Use colour, pictures and keep them brief.

Mind maps

Tony Buzan - mind maps (finishes at 7:14)

Part 2 – (finishes at 4:50)

Sex (we remember something more if it is rude) Positivity (keep images with positive associations) Imagination Colour Exaggerate Senses Order Number Movement Association Symbolism Humour Use these ideas to make a powerful mind map.

Start in the centre with an image of the topic, using at least 3 colours. Use images, symbols, codes, and dimensions throughout your mind map. Select key words and print using upper or lower case letters. Each word/image is best alone and sitting on its own line. The lines should be connected, starting from the central image. The central lines are thicker, organic and thinner as they radiate out from the centre. Make the lines the same length as the word/image they support. Use multiple colours throughout the mind map, for visual stimulation and also to encode or group. Develop your own personal style of mind mapping. Use emphasis and show associations in your mind map.

Practise making your own mind maps now.

Use BBC bitesize – it is excellent Explore it here http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks3/

Practise – get someone to test you. Who could help you? Have a go now.

Share your revision ideas here… http://wallwisher.com/wall/zz1tqt1vi2
