ECO-IRU Silk Road Truck Caravan 2010 As a next logical step in the IRU strategy the IRU organised, in public-private partnership with the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), the Silk Road Truck Caravan 2010. 8 ECO Member States have participated Page 7 (c) International Road Transport Union (IRU) 2011

ECO-IRU Silk Road Truck Caravan 2010 Results indicated that the Caravan has achieved its set objectives and that the main non-physical barriers, notably at borders, mostly stem from inefficient implementation of the key UN multilateral trade and road transport facilitation instruments. Leaders of the ECO Member States called upon all the relevant parties to implement the regular runs of truck caravans at the Istanbul Meeting in Dec 2010.
