14 John Peter Zenger was put on trial for criticizing the royal governor of New York in a newspaper in 1736. Criticizing government officials was illegal at the time. Zenger was found not guilty because his comments were true. Zenger’s trial was the first step in freedom of the press in America.

I want you to use your notes and fill your spaces with the names of documents and philosophers that we had from todays notes, as well as the definition of, what they accomplished, or how they were influential. Winners of Bingo will have a choice between Extra Credit on a quiz or a small packet of candy tomorrow.
