For example, some people might not like being alone, and that could lead to them committing suicide.  2. For example, Robin Williams was alone, and that is partly what led to his suicide. Even though he was depressed, having people around could have prevented his death.  HW: Finish 9 journals and independent reading by March 20 th. I will ask questions about your book, so make sure you actually read THE WHOLE THING!

5. Key Points/CA Review (7 min)  Most of you got 3s and 4s on your CA3 Essay.  You had good theses, but you didn’t have specific evidence. * Your examples are the meat of the hamburger; they should be good and make people think.  Go through your essay and highlight or underline your concrete detail.  If you got a 4 or below, write a more specific example to the side (doesn’t have to be a full sentence)  If both of your examples were specific (you got a 5 or above), help a partner.  Pass papers back in.

6. The English EOC  5 hour time limit  March 30 th for 9 th Grade  April 1 st for 10 th grade  Assesses Reading, Persuasive Writing (10 th ), Expository Writing (9 th ), Writing about Reading, Revising and Editing  Must pass in order to graduate from high school.

Open-Ended Responses Tests for:  Comprehension of the passage(s).  Comprehension of the question.  Using text evidence as support.  Giving context and details in writing.  Giving a conclusion/concluding sentence. EOC Facts Three to Four OERs on the test, Most points are lost on the OERs, If you write good OERs and solid essays, you’re very likely to pass the test!

16. Part 1: Brainstorming! Copy the following steps!  1. Make a T chart for each side AND THEN PICK ONE! (What you have on that side of the T-chart becomes your reasons/topic sentences)  2. Brainstorm SPECIFIC examples.  Use M-BACH to brainstorm  M-movies, B-books, A-anecdotes, C- celebrities, H- historical events/people  3. Use words from the prompt to write your claim!
