1 Music for teaching RE

2 This is a song I sang when I was at primary school and I have seen be used in many school placements. The first verse covers the idea of staying motivated. The second verse is about being happy and helping others to feel joy. The third verse is about being at peace with yourself resulting in the ability to relax. These are ideas to discuss with pupils and the lyrics could raise questions… How could you help someone feel joy? How could you help someone feel peace? How could you help motivate someone? What might someone have done to not feel at peace? Why is it important to be motivated?

3 THANK YOU LORD Thank you Lord for this new day (3 times) Right where we are. Chorus: Alleluia praise the Lord (3 times) Right where we are. Thank you Lord for food to eat (3 times) Right where we are. Chorus Thank you Lord for clothes to wear (3 times) Right where we are Chorus Thank you Lord for all your gifts (3 times) Right where we are. Chorus Thank you Lord for Harvest time (3 times ) Right where we are. This song could be used to teach children about the Harvest Festival but also about being thankful for everything we often take for granted. This could lead on to look at how other people live… - Homeless people. -People struggling in other countries. This could also lead to lessons discussing the story of Jesus, why are we thanking the Lord for these things? Who is the Lord? Do some people not have food? What gifts could the Lord have given us? Why do we have a Harvest?
