Descriptive Lead Example
2
Object – rough draft beginning I remember when I would visit my grandparents and I would help my grandma in her garden. As we picked vegetables my grandma would always recite stories. My favorite was a Winnie-the-Pooh story where Eeyore falls into a river. I now have a snow globe resembling that story as a memento of the times my grandma and I spent together in her garden. Needs a Lead to draw reader in.

Object – which lead is being used? They were hot summer days when I would spend some time of the summer with my grandparents on their farm. My grandma and I would spend some quality time in her garden picking string beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I remember the feel of the warm breeze on my cheek, the prickly leaves on my thumb and forefinger. There were always moments where I would have to stop and shoo away a fly and notice that my grandma never did the same – I guess she was used to them by now. I remember my grandma would always recite stories as we picked. My favorite was a Winnie- the-Pooh story where Eeyore falls into a river.
