5 UISS Baseline Software ZIMBRA Community (7.1.5) : (APAN Groups) A collaborative social networking software platform with a variety of core applications running on top of it such as blogs, forums, media galleries, wikis, event calendars, photo & video embedding & more. Applications from third parties using API’s & REST stacks can be installed or integrated with platform. ZIMBRA Community is ASP.NET, C+ & Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise 2010 : (APAN Sites) Content & document management program used to provide intranet portals, document & file management, collaboration, websites, enterprise search and workflow automation. Enterprise also provides a complete development stack based on web technologies and standards-based API’s.

8 Enterprise Unclassified Information Sharing Service (UISS) Operational View (OV-1) The Unclassified Information Sharing Service (UISS) is the DoD’s designated enterprise capability to share and collaborate with non-traditional mission partners with the All Partners Access Network (APAN ) designated (www.apan.org) as the baseline service. UISS production servers are managed by DISA’s Defense Enterprise Computing Center (DECC) & maintained within a special purpose enclave using a commercial internet service provider (ISP). DECC staff maintains computing environment. UISS Applications Service Provider (ASP) maintains COOP, testing & development environments. 9 Types of APAN Groups: Permission Based Public Open Public Closed Private Listed Private Unlisted PUBLIC OPEN - Access to all public information. Registered APAN users can join without approval PRIVATE LISTED – ONLY group members can see info. Listed publicly. Only title/description searchable Group users must be approved PUBLIC CLOSED – Access to all public information. Users of group must be approved (only members can post) PRIVATE UNLISTED – ONLY members can see or read your group. It’s NOT listed or publicly searchable. Users must be INVITED to join.

14 APAN Capabilities / Services TEXT MESSAGE COMMUNICATION TO APAN GROUPS : None-smart phone users ability to use their cell phones to post content to an APAN community of interest or group. This capability is available when APAN Chat cannot be used. This could be to broadcast reports from the field for situational awareness, requests for support, status updates, etc. This capability would typically be set up locally within an Area of Responsibility (AOR) to support several personnel in the field to send information back to office.
