4 What’s new in 2013?

5 2013 United Way Campaign Goal The hospital, medical center and UKP are partnering together on a campus-wide campaign. Our joint fundraising goal is $300,000 in employee pledges.

6 Why give to United Way? Our community needs us. Eighty-six percent of children in USD 500 are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Each night, more than 2,200 people are homeless and seeking shelter. A third are children. A third are turned away. At any given time, 1 in 3 families in Wyandotte County rely on United Way agencies for support. Many of those people are the same people we treat in our hospital and clinics. Many of our patients rely on health-related organizations supported by United Way.

7 Some of our community health partners who benefit from your generosity:

8 It’s the right thing to do. The hospital is fortunate to be experiencing tremendous growth. We need to invest in the community that supports us. – Treads & Threads – Girls’ Night In – NCI designation – Many, many others

9 Would you like to give?

10 A Few Important Details A pledge is defined as a personal contribution to United Way. All employees who complete a pledge card or use ePledge are eligible to win prizes. ePledge users are automatically entered in the drawing. Others must complete a paper pledge form to enter. A donation is not required to enter the drawing. – Check “I decline to give this year” if completing ePledge. – Enter $0 as your dollar amount on the paper pledge form.

11 New Donor Designation Policy Minimum donation amount for Donor Designation: $100 Donations can only be designated to: – United Way of Wyandotte County Community Care Fund – United Way of Wyandotte County member agencies – United Way of Greater Kansas City (UWGKC) member agencies – Other United Way chapters Location matters! – Your workplace ZIP code determines which United Way gets your pledge. – To designate funds to United Way of Wyandotte County, use designation form and choose Community Impact Fund. – Employees who designate a minimum of $144 to United Way or the Community Care Fund are eligible for Caring Club status.

12 Remember: No amount is too small. – Giving through United Way multiplies dollars. – Every $1 given = $2.05 in services and benefits. One-time donations are just as encouraged and appreciated as ongoing payroll deductions. Employees who do not work at the main hospital can enter “100” on the Donor Choice form to give to United Way of Wyandotte County.

13 Important Dates Oct. 1: Campaign kicks off Oct. 4: Early-bird drawing for tickets to Kansas Speedway race on Oct. 5. Oct. 31: Campaign officially ends at midnight

14 Thank you for everything you’ve done and will do in support of United Way!
