3 Career and Technical Education (CTE) What is CTE? Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides rigorous and relevant training for both youths and adults for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill and high demand careers. CTE also features clear career pathways that highlight the partnerships developed between high school, post secondary and industry that lead to degrees and industry certifications.

5 Provide Every Completer with the Opportunity to Graduate with a Diploma Plus a Resume’ with the following: Industry Recognized Certification Dual Credit/College Credit Work-Based Learning Experience/Apprenticeship Program District/State/National Competitions (CTSO)

6 Goals Data driven decision making—Data will drive our decisions when diagnosing, prescribing and responding to the diverse needs of our students. Literacy across the curriculum—We will create an environment that develops a passion and the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in a global society. Extra time, extra help—At all levels, We will provide extra time and extra help for all students in personal, social, academic and career and technical areas. Technology—We will keep pace with ever-changing technology.

7  Provide every Career and Technology Student the opportunity to graduate with diploma plus a resume’ with the following:  Nationally Recognized Certification  Dual Credit/College Credit  Work-Based Learning Experience/Apprenticeship  District, State, National Competitions (CTSO)  Perform at or above state benchmarks on the Federal Perkins Indicators and the State Report Card Indicators.  Maintain all individual and program credentials to meet state and national standards.  Career and Technology Student Organizations (CTSO’s) will remain active and compete at the district, state, and national level.  Maintain active membership in your state professional associations.  Use appropriate staff conduct at ALL times! Expectations

23 WBL Reporting Introduction to Career Clusters (Course Code 2830, 7 th & 8 th Grade only) Beginning with the 2016-17 school year, CATE or Middle-level certification AND GCDF certification is required for a teacher of this course. A non-licensed teacher with GCDF certification or a certified teacher without GCDF certification is only acceptable for the 2015-2016 school year only. This is in effect July 1, 2016! Military Career Pathways 101 Summer Institute June 21-23, 2016 Dent Middle School, Columbia, SC Limited to 75 Educators Free 3- day course exploring military careers including field studies to Ft. Jackson, Shaw AFB, and McEntire Joint National Guard CEUs provided Registration opens mid-march Work-Based Learning Effective December 11, 2015, only 6 fields required by state to populate work- based learning experiences on the WBL page in PowerSchool.
