4 3 PMI has five categories of PDUs DescriptionDocumentation required upon PMI audit/request Category 1 - Formal Academic Education – Courses must be offered for degree credit and be related to project and/or program management. transcript or grade report indicating a passing mark. Category 2 - Professional Activities and Self-directed Learning – Maximum of 15 SDL PDUs per CCR Cycle. copies of publications, sample educational materials or program agendas. Category 3 - PMI Registered Education Providers/PMI Components – Educational programs offered by organizations registered with PMI and designated as PMI R.E.P.s. registration form, certificate or letter of attendance. Category 4 - Other Provider – Educational programs offered by organizations not registered with PMI. registration form, certificate or letter of attendance, and a brochure or course materials outlining the subject matter covered and the qualifications of the instructor/lecturer. Category 5 - Volunteer Service to Professional or Community Organizations – Maximum of 20 per CCR Cycle. Professional service to a PM organization or by providing non-compensated project/program management services to non-employer or non-client customer groups. letter or certificate from the organization served acknowledging the certificant for leading project tasks or participating as part of a project team.

6 5 Category 2 – Self-Directed Learning Details Letter Code Description Number of PDUs Earned 2-SDL Self-directed learning activities are individualized learning projects involving personally conducted research or study. Learning may include informal activities such as discussions or coaching sessions with colleagues, co- workers, clients or consultants. It may include articles, books, instructional manuals, videos, CD-ROMs, or other material resources. Qualifying self-directed learning activities must be relevant to project and/or program management, meet a specified purpose, and use knowledgeable resources. Use the Self-Directed Learning Activities Worksheet to determine PDUs for Category 2 – Self-Directed Learning. Maximum 15 Self- Directed Learning PDUs may be earned per CCR cycle (3 years)

7 6 Category 5 – Details DescriptionNumber of PDUs Earned Serve as an elected officer for a project management organization. (No PDUs are awarded for service less than three months) 3 months of participation: 2 PDUs * 6 months of participation: 5 PDUs * 12 months of participation: 10 PDUs * Serve as a volunteer/appointed committee member for a project management organization. - Minimum three months of participation: 1 PDU per calendar year. (No PDUs are awarded for service less than three months) 6 months of participation: 3 PDUs * 12 months of participation: 5 PDUs * Provide project management related services to a community or charitable group The organization sponsoring the project must be a legally recognized not-for-profit organization. 5 PDUs * * per calendar year

8 7 Claiming PDUs – Step 1  If filling out application to earn certification, simply list the PDU sources in the application  If maintaining certification, log into PMI.org with your PMI member number and PMP ID

9 8 Claiming PDUs – Step 2  Select the PDU Category from the list  Once a selection is made, you will be asked for details based on the category

11 10 Claiming PDUs – Step 3 (for Category 3)  When claiming PDUs for Category 3, you only need the course provider and the course ID (Option 1)  Alternatively (Option 2), you can enter the R.E.P. name and then browse a list of all courses offered, or…  (Option 3) You can enter the R.E.P. ID directly to browse a list of all courses

12 11 Claiming PDUs – Step 3 (for Other Categories)  Use the scroll bar to select "What activity do you wish to claim?"  Select Category 1, 2, 4, or 5  Enter the PDU Service request information on the form.  Number of PDUs is dependent on the category - guidelines are provided

14 13 Renewal Application Process –Application for Certification Renewal –After the CCR Records Office confirms that the PDU requirement has been met, PMI’s Certification Program department will issue an e-mail to the certificant notifying him/her that they are now eligible to apply for renewal of their credential. Upon receipt of the e-mail notification, the certificant may complete the Application for Certification Renewal and remit credit card payment of the renewal fee via PMI’s Certification System available in the Certification Program section of the PMI website. Alternatively, the Application for Certification Renewal and payment via credit card, check, or money order may be remitted by mail to PMI’s Global Operations Center at 4 Campus Blvd., Newtown Square, PA USA 19073. –E-mail communications from PMI may inadvertently be blocked or forwarded to bulk mail folders by some spam filters. Please add customercare@pmi.org to the personal address book in your e-mail program to help ensure that you don’t miss important CCR program updates from PMI. –Renewal Fee –In addition to earning and reporting 60 PDUs, to retain an active certification status, certificants are required to remit a renewal fee once during each CCR cycle. Payment of the renewal fee should accompany the Application for Certification Renewal which certificants are required to complete after PMI confirms that their PDU requirement has been met. –The renewal fee for PMI members is $60 (US) and $150 (US) for non-members.

ID: 1038) –Booz Allen Hamilton’s “preferred” vendor for externally provided Project Management training –Total cost for ESI’s PMP PowerPrep course and the PMP certification exam is less than the $2,500 tuition cap for certifications –Offers Project Management courses in partnership with George Washington University that are eligible for college credits –Offers courses globally, and the pass rate for those who take their PMP PowerPrep course is 98% –Booz Allen employees have noted ESI’s audiotapes to be quite beneficial  IIL (R.E.P. ID: 1003) –Also offers the PMP certification preparation course and exam for under $2,500  Cheetah (R.E.P. ID: 1152, 1992, 1993, 1994) –Higher cost provider but is also very successful at preparing individuals for the PMP certification exam
